Cottage Style Charm...

It is finished and I LOVE IT!  Nikki did an awesome job of custom quilting.  She will be around Lynden this week so if you have any quilts that need quilting she will pick them up at Folktales.  I took some close ups of the blocks you will find if you scroll down.  The fabric kit is $180.95.  That also includes the backing fabric. The cost of custom quilting was $235.00 and worth every penny!  The book is sold separately and has lots of other smaller projects in it.
 The book is $24.95.

Nikki also quilted this panel quilt.  She did this one with an edge to edge all over ocean themed pattern on this one.  The kit cost is $115.00.  The quilting cost is $90.00.

Nikki also quilted this one for Millinee.  Love the way she used up her fabric stash to make the stars!
This is my shop hop block for the hop in June.  June 18th to July 1st.  I plan to include a pattern for an appliqued tree for those of you
I can't convince to embroider 😜.  Also an alternative phrase "Adventure Awaits".  The fabrics are very lovely this year with PNW flora and fauna.
Here are the close ups of the Cottage Style Charm Quilt - hope you can see Nikki's beautiful quilting.

I have begun Crabapple Hill's "Noah's Journey" and I am having SO MUCH FUN!  Here are the blocks I have finished so far...in no particular order...

I also have the Ostriches/peacocks block, Tigers and Cranes Block and Hippos/Moose blocks traced and colored, but not yet stitched.  All of these blocks are in stock, as well as the necessary pencils and flosses.  Currently shipping to anywhere in Canada or the US, just give me a call: 360-354-0855, or shoot me an email:  folktales@netzero.net.  More information about current projects and new fabrics is available on my Facebook page: folktalesfabricshop.  Hope you all have a Blessed Easter as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and God's faithfulness to us, signified by the rainbow!

Spring is NEAR!

A sweet new quilt for SPRING!
The embroidered blocks are from Chickadee Hollow.  They come preprinted and precolored on fabric, so all you need to do is add the embroidery!  Each pattern is $8.00.  I used all 12 in the series to make this quilt.  I used This and That's "Camping in Style" pattern ($5.00) to frame the stitcheries.  Nikki Crisp did her usual outstanding job of quilting it for $154.00.  The $165.95 kit includes all the preprinted stitchery  patterns, the layout pattern  and all the fabric,
including the backing.   The DMC floss is not included.
   The finished quilt measures 54" x 70".

Here are a few close up shots so you can see all the pretty colors and Nikki's Quilting!

I apologize for the sunstreaks in the photo, but, hey,
the SUN WAS SHINING!

And today these beautiful fresh precuts from 3 Sisters arrived!  Soft blush, blue, greens and grays.  SO SWEET!  The bolts should be arriving any day now...

The shop remains open
Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm.
It looks like we will have Shop Hop this year from June 17th to July 1st.  Sure hope the border is open and we can all move about once again with some sense of comfort.  In the meantime, enjoy the sunshine, watch the daffodils grow and stay healthy!

New from Buttermilk Basin

A cute new garland from Buttermilk Basin for Spring! "Grow and Bloom" Ornaments pattern is $9.00. The kit is $22.95.  I put magnets on the back of the ornaments so I could hang them on this fun black metal garland.  There are lots of other wool patterns for different seasons that fit on this metal garland.

I made this sample yesterday so you can get a sneak preview of this great new fabric from Moda.  The fabric line is called "Song Book" and there are two sizes of panels with hymns that we grew up with.  The fabric won't arrive until May/June but it is worth the wait!

I have 3 quilts in the very capable hands of Nikki Crisp getting machine quilted.  When they are finished I will post pictures of them.  One is done with an ocean themed panel, one is 12 embroidered blocks from Chickadee Hollow Designs made into blocks for a quilt, and one is from Natalie Bird with hand applique and embroidery.  I am currently working on "Noah's Journey" by Crabapple Hill Studio.  She has some awesome new patterns, including a vintage truck series and an adorable counting book for children.

Check my facebook page:  folktales fabric shop
for more store updates and even a few videos!

I hope you are all staying healthy and safe.  Maybe the end of this miserable pandemic is in sight?  In the meantime, keep stitching and finding ways to stay inspired.  The sun is out longer every day and the daffodils and primroses are doing their best to bloom!
I am hoping you are all using up your fabric stash so when you finally are out and about you can stop in at Folktales and refurbish your fabric bins!  New spring fabrics are due to arrive any day now...next up are Moda's 3 Sisters line called "Sanctuary" and Brenda Riddle's "Sophie"  line.  And then there are the new Maywood lines, and today I ordered some lovely florals from Wilmington, oh, yes, and a cute gnome group!  Oh such FUN!!!  I will NEVER run out of things to do!

December updates

This is a lap sized quilt ( 50" x 58") fresh off of Megan Best's long arm quilting machine.  The fabric line is from Clothworks and the pattern is "Postcard Christmas" by Coach House Designs.  The pattern is $10.00.  The complete kit is $100.00 and includes your choice of flannel or cotton backing.

Since we can't visit each other's homes this year I decided to share some of my
Christmas decorations with you.
 Lots of oldies but goodies!

This one is from Shabby Fabrics with fabric from Marcus
The table runner is an old pattern from Country Stitches.
I stitched this one on the way to my first Quilt Market in 1996!  I think it is from a book from Kindred Spirits, but I am not certain.

My kitchen is decorated with gingerbread.  I do not remember who the designers are that created these patterns

I feel so very blessed when I see all of these stockings hanging!  This pattern is from Indygo Junction.  It has a coordinating tree skirt.  We decorate a living tree and it can only be indoors for a few days so I can't share a picture of it and the tree skirt.
I do not know if this pattern is still in print.
This pattern is from Buttermilk Basin.  The stars are made from wool.
I believe this pattern is still available.

I have a fun collection of snow globes.  Most of them are gifts from my children from when they were growing up.  I love taking them out of their boxes and winding them up to hear the carols.  My granddaughters are entranced with them, also!

This sweet snowman ornie is from Cottonwood Creations.  The pattern is $6.00 and the "Santa Snowball Ornie" is made from wool.  The gnome ornies are from Susan C Shore Designs pattern"Gnome for the Holidays". The pattern is $5.50 and SUPER FAST AND EASY!  You could whip up a dozen in no time at all!
This is another Cottonwood Creations design, "Snow Stack".  This pattern is also $6.00.

This is a holiday/winter mask panel...quick to make and WAY more fun than the blue ones everyone else is wearing!  Stand out in the crowd!

Chickadee Hollow has an entire line of pre-printed, pre-colored patterns.  I have had so much fun embroidering some of the stockings.  Just the right size for a gift card/tree ornament.
another pre-printed, pre-colored pattern from Chickadee Hollow.
This is a 60" square winter quilt from Debbie Maddie.  The snowflakes are a printed panel.  The kit, with backing, is $82.95.
Megan Best also quilted this one.  This is just the top half of the quilt.

I also have a facebook page:  folktales fabric shop, where you can see some updates and videos of some of the amazing products and resources available to quilters and crafters.

It has been a tough year for so many...I hope you have a cozy place where you can create some beautiful things.  It nourishes my soul to be able to create with needle and thread.  Enjoy the holiday season, the carols and the lights, and let's all hope for a brighter year in 2021.

A few of my favorite things...

Primitive Gatherings created this beautiful design and the pattern is available at their website for only $1.00!  Go to:  primitivegatherings.us and look for the "Merry Christmas Wreath Pillow" pattern.  For $1.00 you will get the pattern in a downloadable ptf format.  I am selling the wool and cotton kit for $19.95.  I decided to frame mine rather than make a pillow and I just LOVE IT!

This is an Advent Calendar Kit.  The kit is $23.95 and includes ALL the fabrics and embellishments.
I added tiny red buttons to the quilt in front of the barn, red beads to the tree behind the fence on the left, Small black buttons on the barn doors and some small pearl beads in the sky.
The pockets are a great size to fill with some special treats!
This is a new pattern from "Plumcute Designs" called "St. Nick".  The pattern is $17.00 and includes the cute little stocking ornaments.
Extra sets of the ornaments are available for $7.50.
The complete kit is $26.95.

Quiltdoodle Designs created this pattern.  It is made with Marcus flannels.  The center is a panel embroidered with pearl cotton and appliqued onto the quilt.  The pattern is $20.00, the panel is $10.00, and the quilt kit including backing is $155.00.

This is a new mask panel from Moda with both adult
and kid sized masks.  The panel is $9.00.  I also have a new holiday mask panel in the shop...I will take of photo of it for my next update!

This pattern is called "Noel" by Doug Leko.
The fabrics used are from 3 Sisters.  The pattern is $10.00.
The kit for the throw size (72" x 90") is $175.00.
The backing is the red Poinsettia fabric and is included in the kit.
Megan Best did the quilting on this one.

This ADORABLE book panel has a pocket to keep all the snowman accessories in!  There are multiple choices of hats, sweaters and mittens to velcro onto the pages to build your own unique snowman.  And it has handles to carry it with!  My two 3 year old granddaughters have had hours of fun building their snowmen!
