Merry Christmas!
Wishing each and every one of you a Very Blessed Christmas. It is such a beautiful time to reflect on the Hope and Light of the world being sent to us in our darkness and despair.
I hope you have someone special to share it with.
Parties and presents aren't bad, either!
Folktales will be closing at 2 pm today and will be open at 10 am on Monday, December 26th.
Thanks for all the support you have given me this past year.  What a year I have had!  But facing each day has been so much better because of all the encouragement and patience I have received from you.  Thank you so  very much.  I also appreciate the extra effort you have made to get to Folktales during the ongoing road construction.
The bridge is STILL closed, but it looks like progress is being made.  For now you will have to follow the detour by taking Front Street to 17th.  Turn South and follow the bend onto Kok Road.  Folktales will be on your left.
So go wrap up those last few stocking stuffers, fill your cup with some Christmas cheer, break open those chocolates and have a wonderful day!

Here are some more ideas for some hostess gifts or for yourself

A new post at LAST!

Sorry it's been so long since I have posted.  If there was a booby prize for the world's worst blogger, I think I would qualify!
But the elves have been busy in the store (if only I could get them to run the blogspot!)and there are lots of last minute gift ideas, as well as quick projects, kits...
Shabby Fabrics Holly Tree Skirt.  The kit is $85.00

I made 8 flannel pillowcases on Monday.  Last year it was pajama pants.  It isn't Christmas around here unless I am madly sewing for my friends and family!

Quick gift bag ideas.  These happen to be sized to fit wine bottles.  Surprise!
Once Upon a Vine's Holiday Pillows
This is a finished Gift Item for those of us who don't have time to stitch!

And here is Primitive Gatherings Christmas Mat that I LOVE!  The kit is $59.95.  The pattern by itself is $10.00

new goodies!

This cute bag made from the new "Buttons and Blooms fabric line is a new 1 hour "Make and Take" project.  Debbie Kanaske will be here Wednesday, November 9 at 7 pm, and Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11am to show us how to make it.  I am going to do my project out of Christmas fabri and use it as a gift bag or fill it with candy canes.  It would make a great little tote for your sewing projects or a good place to put your remote controls...The cost of the class is $5.00.  You will also need to purchase 2 fat quarters from Folktales at the time of the class, and bring a 22" x 18" piece of batting, or purchase one here.  Drop by or call to sign up.  360-354-0855

Here is a picture of more of the "Buttons and Blooms" fabric line and book
This is another adorable flannel quilt from the book "Fast and Furious, Quilting as you Go".  It is not a new book but I just love it.  The quilts are so quick and fun to make.  The book is $18.00.  The fabric kit including the backing is $34.50

thank you...

A big THANK YOU to all of you making the effort to take the detour to 17th Street to get to the shop!  I know we are all tired of the road work, but I do appreciate your loyalty and perseverance.  If you haven't been to the shop lately, a reminder that you can't come through from the Guide Meridian at this time because they have the bridge out.  Take Front Street to 17th Street and turn South on 17th. It is only a couple of blocks out of the way and I hope you will find it worth the extra effort once you get here!

here at last...

This is the new quilt called "Daddy's Girl".  I used Arlene Neely's Fabric line.  So sweet!  The kit with the pattern is $87.95, including the flannel backing.  The pattern by itself is $9.50.

This fun quilt is called "Bundle of Jungle" by Marcus Brothers.  The kit with the pattern is $90.00.  As always, each of these kits include the backing.  If you are interested, please contact me at 360-354-0855, or email me at folktales@netzero.net.
Both of these quilts are appropriate for beginners.  They sew up quickly but the results are so much fun!

This is a new quilt pieced and quilted by Sharon Coots.  Thank you, Sharon!  Sharon will be working Mondays from now until the end of the year at the shop.  I am going to go play and leave Folktales in her most capable hands.
Lots of fun new fall ideas.  The Pillowcase is one of Crabapplehill's recent releases.  Sherri Nelson made this model.  The witch is appropriately called "Smell My Feet".
Thank you, Sherri!

OOPS!  I can't seem to get this one turned around!  It is a split nine patch using the "French General" line from Moda.  Sharon loaned this one to me to show off the beautiful fabrics.

I LOVE this one.  It is my personal inspiration.  Primitive Gatherings has a lovely series of patterns that all fit into the same frame size.
That is it for today.  I am binding a couple of fun girlie quilts.  I will try to get them posted in the next day or two.  The bridge on Kok Road is Missing In Action.  If you want to come visit take Front Street to 17th Street and go south.  The new road is very nice and there won't be any delays.  It just takes a little more effort to get here.  Hopefully it will be worth your time!

This is the new flannel   line called                      "I Love Snow".        Almost makes me want to snuggle up with some hot chocolate!
And here is Arlene Neely's newest arrivals' "Always Believe".  She has done a wonderful job of combining her sweet pastel florals with a few Snowmen prints so you can use it for any time of the year!
I am very excited about playing with the new fabrics.  I have just gone through another set of MRI's and the doctors found no more evidence of tumors, so I have lots of enthusiasm about starting some new projects.  We do have a daughter getting married in a few weeks, so I am somewhat distracted, but so glad my energy levels are up and ready for the challenges!
This is the new "Strawberry Fields"  fabric line from Fig Tree Quilts.  The quilt shown is made from the quilt as you go pattern "On the Move".  The kit, including Fig Tree's yellow "minky" style backing is $55.00

This is another new Moda line called "Little Rascals"  I am really looking forward to making the Moda project quilt with these.  It is so vintage and adorable!
And here is the newest Sweetwater line called "Countdown to Christmas".  Just when the sun finally decides to shine!
Kok Road Construction is done!  The lines are painted.  Ginger, the lovely flagger is gone.  They still have not removed the "Road Closed' sign from 17th street but there is free access and no more dust or noise!  Yippee!

Shop Hop Update

Looks like it is going to be another good day for Quilters!  The weather is pleasant in Lynden with a 10% chance of showers.  Pretty good odds!  I-5 is down to one lane from Burlington to Bellingham. so if you are planning on going North today, consider taking scenic Chuckanut Drive.  It will add a few miles, but it is beautiful and will help you avoid the construction hold ups on I-5.  Hope to see you at Folktales!
